Ontario’s environment is under threat.     Greenhouse gas emissions are on the rise again, protections for nature are being dismantled, and mega projects are encroaching on communities.    This spring, we have a chance to choose another path – one that prioritizes people and the planet.    In the lead-up to the provincial election, please show your support for a flourishing, low-carbon Ontario that offers good green jobs, prioritizes our collective health, and respects Indigenous rights.    Let’s come together and make it clear that we want a government that will take immediate action to bring down emissions, protect biodiversity, and build sustainable communities.   You’ll also hear a range of inspiring speakers and performers!   This is a family-friendly event.    Accessibility info can be found on the official website.   Greenpeace will also have a contingent at the rally, so you can join us. In addition, we will provide you with signs and banners to carry.

Here are some ways to get more involved:

  • Outreach – to your networks and lists. Please find social media images and scripts at this link.
  • Poster or Leaflet – printable files are here. Let us know in the Outreach support form if members of your group want training or to join coordinated outreach events.
  • Volunteer or Marshal on the day! Sign up here.

We’re “Just Transitioning” through Huron Natural Area

Saturday, March 12, 2:00 PM Huron Natural Area, Kitchener, ON (Entrance Area)
801 Trillium Drive
Kitchener, Ontario, Ontario, N2R 1K4, Canada

Do you want to be part of the conversation on a Just Transition? How do we work together to bring about a “Just Transition” in Kitchener-Waterloo, in Ontario and in Canada? The Huron Natural Area is an inspiring place for its natural beauty and complexity as well as for being a special site of First Nation communities in the past and present. As the Climate Justice Working Group of the University of Waterloo, we are reaching out to the community of Kitchener-Waterloo, to hear what a Just Transition may mean for you and what you think that people on campus can and should do to support a sustainable development. What, do you think, might provincial and national Ministries of Just Transition do to accelerate the transition to 100% renewable energy while maintaining or establishing justice in this process? Please, bring your family, colleagues, neighbours, and friends to start a conversation. We want to walk, talk, and listen – and be inspired for the letters that we are writing to our MPs and (yet to be elected) MPPs.

Rules: Please make sure that you follow local and regional COVID-19 safety protocol in your area. We recommend wearing a mask and remaining physically distanced throughout the event.
