2021-08-31 (Tue) Plant Based Treaty
As a companion to the UNFCCC/Paris Agreement, The Plant Based Treaty initiative is a grassroots campaign designed to put food systems at the forefront of combating the climate crisis. Modelled on the popular Fossil Fuel Treaty, the Plant Based Treaty aims to halt the widespread degradation of critical ecosystems caused by animal agriculture and to promote a shift to healthier, sustainable plant-based diets. We are urging scientists, individuals, groups, businesses and cities to endorse this call to action and put pressure on national governments to negotiate an international Plant Based Treaty.
For the event, please meet at Waterloo City Hall at 2 pm for a short demonstration and a march to Waterloo Town Square.

Hosted by Citizens Climate Lobby Waterloo Region
Friday, Sept 24, 2021 at 10:00am – 1:00pm
On September 24th, Citizens Climate Lobby, along with Kitchener-Waterloo Climate Save, will be hosting a symbolic Climate Footprint Demonstration at Waterloo Town Square. The intent is to link climate justice with community well-being. We invite people to stop by any time between 10 am and 1 pm and mark their attendance by drawing a chalk outline of their shoes, adding their name, and personalizing it. Your footprints represent your pledge to work towards both system change and individual change to bring humanity more in balance with the rest of nature.
We will be collecting donations for Tiny Homes Takeout. Tiny Homes Takeout is a charity founded on the belief that we are all part of one family and the same quality food that is available to the wealthy should be available to people who are struggling. Everyone deserves a great meal, free of charge.
