Event Reminder: Sept 24th, 2019

Lots of events to keep us busy today! Not sure how we’re going to attend both Woolwich’s and Wellesley’s Climate Emergency declaration council meeting at the same time — but perhaps one of the local physicists has a side project that will help us out.

Good news too. Last night we convinced Wilmot township to declare a Climate Emergency. Yea team!


Tuesday Sept 24, 6:30pm Forks Over Knives screening (Eventbrite). Fresh Ground Cafe, The Working Centre, 256 King St. E. Cafe opens at 6:30 and the screening is at 7:15.


Tuesday Sept 24, 6:30pmBanner Making for Critical Mass Bike Ride, 154 Weber St. E. (Zachary’s House). We will be making larger banners to have during our critical mass bike ride. Put on by the Zachary Fowler of the non-profit community bike shop; Recycle Cycles. See post.


Tuesday Sept 24th, 7-9pmWoolwich Climate Emergency Declaration vote, This is one step towards a Regional vote October 9th – let’s fill the council chambers in support! (see facebook page for Details), 24 Church St W, Elmira, Ontario (streetview, map).

  • Join us at Woolwich Township Council’s next meeting where Councillors will be voting on a Climate Emergency declaration for the Township of Woolwich! The declaration also includes a carbon budget, which will keep the township accountable and on track to meet its emission goals.
  • The Climate Emergency motion will likely be early on the agenda, so please be sure to arrive on time (as close to 7:00 pm as possible).
  • We want to fill the chambers in support of this motion, so invite everyone you know!!
